Barbara Chamberlin is one of the premiere artists from Whitehorse, YT. She has her roots in Oregon and has performed all over the Pacific Northwest, Canada, Germany, and Asia. One of the highlights in Barbara’s diverse career has been her involvement in the movie “Highway of Heartache” which has shown on Bravo. Her musical score received international critical acclaim and Barbara’s portrayal of Wynona-Sue won her rave reviews and an enthusiastic new fan following. She has cracked the Canadian top 100 country songs, and was the first and only Yukon artist to have a video featured on CMT. She has appeared on Breakfast TV, CMT’s Songwriter Series, On the Road Again, and a variety of other local and national TV shows. Most recently, she thrilled audiences all over Canada singing her song, “Follow your Heart” at the Opening Ceremonies for the Canada Winter Games and will be releasing her 3rd CD, “Of Ice and Men”.

In addition to her Wynona-Sue project, Barbara has released 2 full length CD’s. Her acclaimed debut album ‘Sanctuary’ was nominated for a West Coast Music Award and her second CD, “Walking with Ghosts” is a treasured collection of tunes wrenched from her experience with cancer. Barbara also won the Yukon’s ‘On Yukon Time Competition’, the Yamaha songwriting award at the BC Festival of the Arts, and the selection of her song ‘November in June’ was a runner-up in the prestigious John Lennon song contest. She has been commissioned to write songs and has had her songs recorded by other artists. She is a dynamic musician with a great voice and stage presence.

Barbara is currently the conductor of the Whitehorse community Choir and it’s subsidiary choirs. Her group, Four Below Normal, was honored to sing for Prince Charles when he came in to town and has sung at the Folk Alliance and in a variety of Choir concerts. WCC includes the big choir, the Persephones, the Neptunes, and now the Chamber choir. In the past 3 years, she has branched out to teach and conduct the choir. She has been arranging songs for all the choirs and for Four Below Normal. This year she will be interim conductor for the Suzuki Senior Strings.

Barbara is releasing her third CD, “Of Ice and Men” on September 19, 2009. It’s a CD full of fun and serious songs, all about the Yukon. It includes stories about Moose Camp, dogs, Yukon characters, love, and of course, the Yukon’s beauty.
