As a leading artist in the
Yukon’s burgeoning music scene, Chamberlin draws on both vocal finesse
and a variety of instruments to express a sense of humanity. In doing so,
and using all the skills of an honours degree in music, she reveals the
essence of herself.
In her debut album Sanctuary, Chamberlin treats her
audience to a woman’s tale, her hopes, fears, joys, and anguish as told
today and in history. The melodies are poignant, mysterious; a rhythmic
meld of celtic, blues, and soft rock.
Born
in Oregon, the daughter of a music teacher, Chamberlin received a full
musical education graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in vocal
performance with post graduate studies in composition, film scoring,
acting, theory, orchestration and electronic music. She has received
international critical acclaim for writing the musical score for the movie
“Highway of Heartache” and her portrayal of Wynona Sue.
Sanctuary
is a collection of Chamberlin’s observations at 40 something, a time
when physical characteristics take a back seat to the heart and soul of
people and their behaviors.
In the title track, Sanctuary, she reflects on
women’s struggle with body image, and in Two Towers, women’s plight in
Islam.
Avalon takes us on a journey back in time to a place where many
women perished under the label “witch”.
These powerful songs are
skillfully entwined with beautiful love songs and all will leave the
listener eager for more.
